Bucknell Opens 2022 Recruiting With Verbals From Claire Kehley, Megan Leyden

NEW COMMITS: Bucknell University has officially begun their Class of 2026 recruiting after receiving a pair of verbal commitments from Trumball, Conn. native Claire Kehley and Megan Leyden of Bedford, N.H.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am SUPER excited to announce my verbal commitment to Bucknell University to continue my swimming and academic career!! A HUGE thank you to my mom and dad for helping me pursue my dreams wherever they have taken me as well as my sisters, neighbors, coaches, friends, and teammates! Can’t wait to join the team in 2022! GO BISON??”

A talented distance freestyler, Kehley does her club swimming with Weston/Westport YMCA and earned five best times at Florida Seniors last month where she earned bronze in the mile. She was the runner-up in the 1000 free at Connecticut Seniors in February 2020 and posted a pair of top-25 finishes at Geneva Futures in August 2019.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:52.74
  • 500 free – 4:56.86
  • 1000 free – 10:08.15
  • 1650 free – 17:06.62

Also competing for Lauralton High School, Kehley finished fourth in both the 200 and 500 free at the Connecticut Open State Championships during her rookie season.

MEGAN LEYDEN

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Bucknell University! Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way! Go Bison!!”

Primarily a butterflyer, Leyden trains year-round with Executive Swim Club and finished second in the 50 fly at New England Seniors last season before going on to grab silver in the 100 fly at New England 15-18 Age Groups. She posted two top-12 finishes at New England LCM Seniors two summers ago as well.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 24.84
  • 100 fly – 55.18
  • 200 fly – 2:04.90
  • 100 IM – 1:02.17
  • 200 IM – 2:08.22
  • 100 breast – 1:05.04
  • 50 free – 23.89

Currently a junior at Bedford High School, Leyden is a four-time individual New Hampshire State Championship finalist. She won the 100 free and 200 IM as a freshman while securing gold in the 100 fly and 100 breast as a junior. Her time in the 100 fly set a new state record.
