Bucknell Bison Pull In Two Verbal Commitments from Sarah Culkin, Rylie Giles

NEW COMMITS: Bucknell University has received a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season from Rockville, Md. native Sarah Culkin and Rylie Giles of Ridgefield, Conn.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited to finally announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Bucknell University! I would like to thank to my family, friends, coaches, and teammates who have helped me get to this point. Go Bison!! ??”

Culkin swims year-round with Rockville Montgomery Swim Club and most recently raced to 18th place in the 100 free at Potomac Valley Seniors. She competed in six events at NCSAs last long course season where she recorded a best time in the 50m back.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 24.90
  • 100 fly – 55.03
  • 50 free – 24.47
  • 100 free – 52.60
  • 50 back – 26.43
  • 100 back – 56.00

Also competing for Good Counsel High School, Culkin is a six-time Washington Metropolitan Prep School League Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American earned bronze in both the 100 back and 100 fly as a junior while taking third and fourth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

RYLIE GILES

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to Bucknell University! Can’t wait to continue my athletic and academic career! Thanks to all my family, coaches, and friends who helped me along the way!!!!! GO BISON!!!!!!”

Giles, who does her club swimming with Ridgefield Aquatic Club, earned six best times at the LAC Arena Holiday Cup in December where she finished third in the 1000 and fourth in the 1650. Last summer, she registered five top-15 finishes at Connecticut LCM Seniors and raced three events at Geneva Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 53.56
  • 200 free – 1:53.15
  • 500 free – 4:58.80
  • 1000 free – 10:22.42
  • 1650 free – 17:11.90

A current senior at Ridgefield High School, Giles is a six-time Connecticut Girls Open Championship finalist. She was the runner-up in both the 200 free and 500 free during her junior campaign while ninth and seventh, respectively, in those events as a sophomore.
