NEW COMMIT: High school junior and Waynesville, Ohio native Owen Conley has announced his in-state verbal commitment to the Buckeyes as a member of the class of 2024.

Conley swims year-round for Dayton Raiders and has six Junior National (or better) standards. He most recently competed at Juniors this summer which included an 18th-place showing in the 400m IM after achieving a pair of best times at Nationals. He finished seventh in the 400 IM and tenth in the 200 back at Juniors East last winter where he achieved 100% best times.

Also competing for Waynesville High School, Conley is a four-time Ohio State Championship finalist. He won both the 200 IM and 500 free as a junior after finishing second and third, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career swimming at The Ohio State University! Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends who have supported me along this journey. Go Bucks!!!”

His best times include:

  • 100 back – 50.00
  • 200 back – 1:44.77
  • 200 fly – 1:50.78
  • 200 IM – 1:48.94
  • 400 IM – 3:51.72
  • 500 free – 4:31.22

Even with nearly two years of club swimming still to go, Conley is a huge pickup for Ohio State when he arrives on campus in the fall of 2020. He would’ve scored in the C-final of the 200 back and 400 IM at the 2018 Big Ten Championships where the Buckeyes finished third in the team standings.
