British National Junior Team Member Hollie Widdows Pledges to Notre Dame

NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has picked up a big verbal commitment for the 2024-24 season and beyond from Hollie Widdows of Tavistock, Great Britain.

She will join Emily Kitayama as a member of the Fighting Irish’s Class of 2028.

She told Swimming World:

“I am really looking forward to joining Notre Dame. I feel they have the perfect balance of strong academics and an exciting swimming programme. I can’t wait to see what I can achieve there!”

Widdows was a member of Team Britain that competed at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Romania 2022. There, she earned silver in the 4x100m mixed medley relay and bronze in the 4x200m free relay.

A multi-time age group champion, Widdows was the British junior champion in the 50m fly in 2022. She’s also a member of the Swim England Junior Team during the current 2022-23 season.

In LCM, her best times include:

  • 50m fly – 26.95
  • 100m fly – 1:00.63
  • 200m IM – 2:19.76

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 50 fly – 23.55
  • 100 fly – 53.77
  • 200 IM – 2:04.52

Widdows is currently a junior at Mount Kelly, swimming under coaches Emma Collings-Barnes and Greg King-Limb.
