Breaststroker Ryan Malicki of Carmel Swim Club Sends 2022 Verbal to Notre Dame

NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has snagged their sixth early verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from breaststroker Ryan Malicki of Carmel, Ind.

He will join Marcus Reyes-Gentry, Michael FlynnDillon EdgeJack Anderson and Tate Bacon as a member of the Fighting Irish’s Class of 2026.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the University of Notre Dame! It is an honor to attend such a prestigious university and be a part of an amazing team. Thank you to my family, coaches and teammates for all the support throughout this process. Go Irish!☘️☘️☘️”

A Junior National qualifier, Malicki trains year-round with Carmel Swim Club and competed at Juniors East last December before going on to sweep the breaststroke events at the CSC Winter Invitational. In Summer 2019, he recorded five best times at Indiana LCM Seniors where he finaled in three events.

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 54.92
  • 200 breast – 2:03.18
  • 200 IM – 1:49.41
  • 400 IM – 4:02.18

Currently a junior at Carmel High School, Malicki is already a three-time individual Indiana State Championship finalist. He finished third in the 100 breast and sixth in the 200 IM as a sophomore while taking seventh in the former event during his freshman season.

The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also grabbed gold and bronze in the 100 breast and 200 IM, respectively, at the IHSAA Sectional Championships in both 2019 and 2020.

Under head coach Michael Litzinger, the Fighting Irish finished sixth at the 2020 ACC Championships.
