Breaststroker Kasey Venn Verbally Commits to Michigan State
NEW COMMIT: Kasey Venn, a native of Glenview, Ill., has verbally declared her intention to swim and study at Michigan State as a member of the class of 2023.
Venn currently swims for NASA Wildcat Aquatics under head coach Alessio De Rosi and achieved her first U.S. Open cut in the 100m breast at NCSAs this summer with a ninth-place finish in the event. She achieved a trio of lifetime bests at both the IL Senior LCM Championships in July and NCSAs in March after racing the 100 breast at Winter Nationals last December.
Also representing New Trier High School, Venn has raced her signature event at the IHSA State Championships the last two seasons of her high school career. The NISCA All-American finished 11th in the 100 breast at State during her junior season after winning the event at IHSA Glenbrook South Sectionals a week prior.
She told Swimming World:
”I’m so proud and excited to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at Michigan State University! I’m so happy to be apart of such an amazing team and school, thank you to everyone who made this possible!! Go Green!!!!”
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:03.21
- 200 breast – 2:20.22
- 200 IM – 2:05.82
Venn will add valuable breaststroke depth when she arrives in East Lansing for the 2019-20 season. Her best 100 breast time would’ve ranked fourth on the Spartans’ lineup last season and she’ll join a training group that includes Erin Szara and Abbey Neveling.
