NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker and sprint freestyler Jake Meyer of Columbus, Ohio has declared his intention to continue his academic and swimming career at Emory University as a member of the class of 2024.

Meyer does his club swimming with Upper Arlington Swim Club and recently won the 100 breast at the Ned Reeb Invite in December after racing four events at Geneva Futures this past summer. Also competing for Upper Arlington High School, Meyer place eighth in the 100 breast and 12th in the 50 free at the District Championships during his junior season.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m proud to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Emory University! I’d like to thank all my coaches, family and teammates that have helped me along the way. Go Eagles!”

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 56.72
  • 200 breast – 2:09.95
  • 50 free – 21.74
  • 100 free – 48.03

Meyer will add valuable depth to the Eagles’ lineup when he arrives on campus at the start of the 2020-21 season. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 breast at the 2019 University Athletic Association Championships where Emory earned the overall team title.
