NEW COMMIT: Liberty University has earned a new in-state commitment for the upcoming 2019-20 season from Forest, Va. breaststroker and IMer Lexi Plogger.

Plogger does her club swimming with the Lynchburg YMCA Swim Team and most recently competed in three events at YMCA Short Course Nationals. She had six races at Virginia SCY Championships in February and capped off her long course season with four lifetime bests at Virginia LCM Championships this past summer.

Also competing for Jefferson Forest High School, Plogger is a six-time Virginia 4A State Championship finalist. She placed 11th in the 100 breast and 12th in the 100 fly as a senior after finishing third and 12th, respectively, in those events during her junior season. She was the 100 breast runner-up and grabbed fifth in the 200 IM during her sophomore campaign as well.

She told Swimming World:

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and further my academic career at Liberty University! So thankful for all the family, teammates, friends, and coaches who have helped me fulfill my dream of becoming a D1 athlete! Go flames!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:06.32
  • 200 breast – 2:23.98
  • 200 IM – 2:10.01
  • 400 IM – 4:40.51

Plogger will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Flames as a member of the class of 2023. She would’ve scored in the B-final of both breaststroke events as well as the C-final of the 200 IM at the 2019 CCSA Championships where Liberty earned the team title.
