NEW COMMIT: Brecksville, Ohio, native Riley McNichols has announced her in-state verbal commitment to Bowling Green State University and will suit up for the Falcons as a member of the class of 2024.

She will join her siblings as NCAA swimmers: her older sister, Macie McNichols, swam at Ohio State and her older brother, Tyler McNichols, competed for the College of Wooster.

McNichols does her club swimming with Cleveland Sports Institute and most recently earned a pair of best times at Geneva Futures this past summer after placing 10th in the 100m free at Lake Eries LCM Seniors. Last winter, she raced five events at Lake Erie SCY Seniors before going on to earn a trio of lifetime bests at Indianapolis Sectionals.

Also competing for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, McNichols has qualified for the Ohio State Championships each of her three high school seasons thus far. She is a three-time CSCAA 2018-19 All-American as a member of the 4×50 medley relay, 4×50 free relay, and 4×100 free relay and also owns school records in those three events.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Bowling Green State University! I cannot wait to be part of such an amazing swimming program and am so thankful for this opportunity! Go Falcons!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.36
  • 100 free – 52.99
  • 200 free – 1:58.76
  • 100 fly – 58.24
  • 200 fly – 2:12.09

McNichols will add valuable depth to the Falcons’ lineup both individually and on relays when she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024 and will add her talents to a training group led by Anna Eriksson and Gillian Boal. She will also join Gabby Vitela in Bowling Green next fall.
