Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am ecstatic to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Boston College! The coaches and swimmers at BC make me feel at home already, and I cannot wait to represent an impressive, rising program as I continue to challenge myself in all my endeavors. I’d like to thank my coaches, teammates, and club swimming and school friends for offering me endless amounts of support and guidance throughout my growth as a student and athlete. The administration and community at Dallas Jesuit have been like a family to me, and without my experiences there, I would not be where I am today. AMDG. Go Eagles!!”

An extremely versatile swimmer, McKinney does his club swimming with Rockwall Aquatic Center of Excellence and most recently competed at College Station Sectionals where he finished 15th in the 400m IM. Last summer, he earned two best times at Austin Sectionals before going on to place 11th in the 400m IM and 14th in the 200m breast at Des Moines Futures.

His best times include:

  • 200 IM – 1:52.52
  • 400 IM – 3:57.89
  • 200 fly – 1:53.25
  • 200 back – 1:53.02

Also competing for Jesuit College Preparatory School, McKinney raced to 15th place in the 200 IM at the Texas 6A State Championships as a junior. He is also a four-time UIL 6A Region 02 Championship finalist, finishing second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 breast in 2020.
