Bloomington Speedo Champions Series Cools Down After Hot Friday Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., July 29. AFTER witnessing several Olympic Trial cuts on Friday night, including Indiana University’s Scott Tanner picking up a qualifier in the 100-meter butterfly, the Bloomington Speedo Champions Series Sectional cooled down during the final day of competition at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center on the campus of IU.

Club Wolverine Annie Stein opened the day with a triumph in the 1500-meter freestyle. The 21-year-old posted a U.S. Open cut of 17:09.96, while Oakland Live Y’er Shane Lichtenberg garnered gold in the 800-meter freestyle with an 8:31.73.

Cincinnati Marlin Ashlee Edgell posted a win in the 200-meter IM with a U.S. Open time of 2:22.49, while Barracuda Bradley Craig claimed the men’s side with a U.S. Open time of 2:09.18.

In the sprint free events, Rachel Sitarz won the 50-meter freestyle in 27.07, while teammate Eddie Kenney snared gold in the men’s 50 free with a time of 23.90.
