Big Ten Women Championships Day 2 Prelims: King, Haughey to Battle in IM
The first day of individual events began at the Women’s Big Ten Championships on Thursday.
Here is a look at who made the finals:
500 freestyle
Michigan’s distance crew continued its strong performance one day after winning the 800 freestyle relay. G Ryan took the top seed in 4:37.62, ahead of Wisconsin’s Cierra Runge (4:38.00) and Michigan teammate Yirong Bi (4:38.32).
Ohio State’s Lindsey Clary took the fourth seed (4:38.37), followed by Kaersten Meitz (4:38.42), Wisconsin’s Danielle Valley (4:39.66), Michigan’s Rebecca Postoll (4:39.97) and Northwestern’s Valerie Gruest Slowing (4:40.23).
200 IM
Indiana’s Lilly King took the top seed in the 200 IM, finishing in 1:55.49, just ahead of Michigan’s Siobhan Haughey (1:55.67) and Clara Smiddy (1:57.73).
Ohio State’s Meg Bailey took the fourth seed (1:58.10), followed by Iowa’s Emma Sougstad (1:58.36), Northwestern’s Melissa Postoll (1:58.54), Wisconsin’s Jessica Unicomb (1:58.82) and Indiana’s Christine Jensen (1:58.85).
50 freestyle
Ohio State’s Zhesi Li took the top seed in the 50 freestyle (21.75), followed by Wisconsin’s Chase Kinney (22.08), Michigan’s Catie DeLoof (22.28), Penn State’s Kaitlin Saloky (22.39), Wisconsin’s Emmy Sehmann (22.41), Minnesota’s Danielle Nack (22.45), Northwestern’s Mary Warren (22.46) and Michigan’s Rachel Bukowski (22.54
