NEW COMMIT: Ball State University has received their second verbal commitment for their growing Class of 2026 from in-state distance ace and Elkhart, Ind. Kiran Stauffer.

She will join Payton Kelly of Calgary, Alberta, in Muncie at the start of the 2022-23 season.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Ball State! Thankful to God and all those that have helped me along the way. Go cards!! #chirpchirp”

Stauffer, who trains year-round with Concord Swim Club, placed 10th in the mile and 12th in the 500 free at the OLY Invite in December 2020. She earned five best times at Indiana LCM Seniors in July 2019 where her highest finish was a 12th-place showing in the 800m free.

She also competed at the USA Swimming Open Water 5K Junior National Championships in 2019, finishing the course in 1:14:54.73.

Her best times include:

  • 1650 free – 17:36.09
  • 1000 free – 10:26.08
  • 500 free – 5:01.29
  • 200 free – 1:52.24
  • 100 free – 53.78
  • 50 free – 24.81
  • 200 IM – 2:13.65
  • 200 back – 2:12.67
  • 100 back – 1:00.87
  • 50 back – 28.66
  • 200 fly – 2:15.21
  • 100 fly – 1:00.73

Currently a junior at Concord Community High School, Stauffer has competed at the Indiana State Championships the last two seasons. She most recently won both the 200 and 500 free at the IHSA Sectional Championships after placing third and second, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

Stauffer will add valuable depth to Ball State’s lineup, as she would’ve been their second-fastest 200/500/1000 freestyler last season. Her former high school teammate, MaKayla Miller, is currently a sophomore on the Cardinals’ roster and the two will overlap for one season.
