NEW COMMIT: Nova Southeastern University has gained a new in-state commitment for the fall of 2019 from Miami, Fla. native Brandon Moran.

Moran does his club swimming with Azura Florida Aquatics and most recently competed at the Florida Gold Coast Senior Championships where he won the 200 breast and recorded six lifetime bests. He placed ninth in both breaststroke events at Southern Zone Sectionals earlier in March and had six top-10 finishes at the Florida Gold Coast LCM Seniors this past summer.

Also competing for Mater Lakes Academy, Moran is a four-time Florida 2A State Championships finalist. He placed third in the 100 breast and 15th in the 200 IM as a senior after placing fifth in the former during his junior season.

He told Swimming World:

“I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to Nova Southeastern University where I will continue my athletic and academic career. Thank you family, friends, and coaches that helped me along the way, excited to see what happens next . Gooo Sharks!!!”

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 58.32
  • 200 breast – 2:05.93
  • 200 IM – 1:58.50
  • 400 IM – 4:11.83

Moran will add valuable breaststroke and IM depth when he suits up for the Sharks as a member of the class of 2023. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 200 breast at the 2019 Sunshine Conference Championships where Nova Southeastern earned their third-straight team title.
