NEW COMMIT: Butterflyer Morgan Gore of Folsom, Calif. has pledged her verbal commitment to Auburn University as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2026.

She will arrive on campus along with Ainsley JonesKyla Maloney, and Carly Sebring at the start of the 2022-23 season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so thrilled to officially announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Auburn University!! There is no other place or team I would rather spend my college career with!! I am beyond grateful to my current & future coaches, family, and friends for all of their support and love. ️Can’t wait to be an Auburn Tiger!! War Eagle ??”

Gore, who owns the Olympic Trials cut in the 200m fly, trains year-round with Sierra Marlins Swim Team and most recently placed 11th in the 200m fly at TYR Pro Swim Series – Knoxville in January. She was the 200 fly bronze medallist at Juniors West and also finished third in that event at Far Westerns in April 2019.

Last summer, she punched her ticket to Omaha after finishing 13th in the 200m fly at Junior Nationals.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 54.59
  • 200 fly – 1:57.91
  • 200 IM – 2:04.63

Currently a junior at Vista Del Lago High School, Gore raced to 13th place in the 100 fly at the CIF State Championships as a freshman. The week prior, she was the runner-up in both the 100 fly and the 200 IM at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championships.

She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Even with just under two years to go before arriving on campus, Gore will add valuable butterfly depth to Auburn’s lineup. She would’ve been their third-fastest 200 flyer last season and will have one year of overlap with current sophomore and fellow Cali native Averee Preble.
