Auburn Lands 2022 Verbal from Three-Time Maryland State Record Holder Carly Sebring

NEW COMMIT: Auburn University has landed their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from versatile standout Carly Sebring of Damascus, Md. She will arrive on campus as a member of the class of 2026.

When she competed for Nation’s Capital Swim Club, Sebring was part of seven National Age Group Relay records. Of those seven, six still stand:

  • 13- 14 4×100 Freestyle Relay
  • 13-14 4×50 Mixed Freestyle Relay
  • 13-14 4×100 Mixed Freestyle Relay
  • 13-14 4×50 Mixed Medley Relay
  • 13-14 4×50 Mixed Medley Relay
  • 15-16 4×50 Mixed Medley Relay

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Auburn University! Coach Taylor and his amazing coaching staff have made me feel welcomed and part of the family since day one. I want to thank my family, coaches and friends who have supported me over the years and I cannot wait to represent Auburn in the Fall of 2022. WAR EAGLE!!! #WDE”

An extremely versatile swimmer, Sebring now does her club swimming with Rockville Montgomery Swim Club and owns 10 Junior National standards. She most recently raced to seventh in the 50 free at Potomac Valley Seniors after taking fifth in the 100 fly and sixth in the 100 back at the NCAP Invitational in December.

Last summer, she recorded seven top-18 finishes at NCSAs where her highest place was a sixth-place showing in the 50m fly. She also earned a pair of best times at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors three weeks prior.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 24.62
  • 100 fly – 53.90
  • 200 fly – 2:01.91
  • 50 free – 23.04
  • 100 free – 50.20
  • 200 free – 1:48.47
  • 50 back – 25.53
  • 100 back – 54.72
  • 200 back – 2:00.51
  • 200 IM – 2:01.81

A current junior at Damascus High School, Sebring is already a four-time Maryland 1-3A State Championship finalist. She won the 50/100 free combo as a sophomore while earning gold in the 100 free and 200 IM during her freshman season.

Sebring owns three Maryland state records in the 50 free, 100 free,  and 200 IM. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors.
