NEW COMMIT: Rockwall, Texas’ Ashley Conrad will stay in-state next year when she heads to Texas A&M after recently announcing her verbal commitment. She will reunite with her older sister, Amber Conrad, who is currently an Aggie freshman.

Conrad, a three-time Winter Juniors qualifier, swims year-round for Rockwall Aquatic Center of Excellence (RACE) for head coach and former Olympian Neil Walker. She concluded her summer with a trio of lifetime bests and five second swims at Austin Speedo Sectionals. She recorded five top-20 finishes at College Station Speedo Sectionals in March after racing at Juniors West last December.

Representing Heath High School, Conrad is a three-time Texas 6A State Championships qualifier. The NISCA All-American has finished fifth in the 500 free at the State meet all three seasons so far.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for Texas A&M University! Special thanks to my friends, family, and coaches for all the support! I am so grateful and super excited to be apart of the Aggie family! Gig’em!”

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:49.41
  • 500 free – 4:52.79
  • 1000 free – 10:06.39
  • 1650 free – 17:00.36
  • 200 back – 2:00.50
  • 200 IM – 2:05.85
  • 400 IM – 4:25.36

Conrad will join a talented mid-distance training group when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season that’s led by Katie Portz and Haley Yelle. Under head coach Steve Bultman, the Aggies won their third-straight SEC Championship title last season.
