NEW COMMIT: U.S. Open qualifier George Glover VII of Edmond, Okla. has announced his commitment to the United States Military Academy and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2021.

He will join Evan Yoo, James DonJackson Pogue and Ian Shahan in West Point as a member of Army’s Class of 2025.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m super excited to officially announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at The United States Military Academy at West Point! I would like to thank my family, Coach Van Slooten and friends for guiding me on this journey. I would also like to thank Coach Brandt and the West Point coaching staff for this opportunity. GO ARMY!!!”

A talented freestyler and butterflyer, Glover trains year-round with American Energy Swim Club and earned three best times at Lees Summit 18&U Winter Championships last month after racing three events at the Toyota U.S. Open. He had a strong showing at Juniors West in December 2019 and was the runner-up in the 200 free at the Oklahoma SCY Championships back in February.

In Summer 2019, he finaled in four events at Jenks Sectionals before going on to compete at Junior Nationals.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.11
  • 100 free – 45.62
  • 200 free – 1:39.30
  • 500 free – 4:33.76
  • 100 fly – 51.81
  • 200 fly – 1:52.04

Currently a senior at EPIC Charter High School, Glover is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

Glover will make a big impact for Army as he would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 free, 200 free, and 200 fly at last year’s conference meet. Under head coach Brandt Nigro, the Black Knights finished second in the team standings at the 2020 Patriot League Championships.
