Arkansas High School Swimming Championships

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas, March 7. BENTONVILLE won the girl's (345) and boy's (336) state titles at the Arkansas High School State Championships. Fayetteville took second (289.5) and Conway placed third (249) for the girls, while Conway finished second (318) and North Little Rock took third (167) on the boys' side.
Girls Results
Bentonville won the 200 medley (1:53.70) and freestyle (1:43.28) relays, while Fayetteville finished first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:45.19).
Senior Kara Wilkerson (Pulaski Academy) won the 200 IM (2:10.80) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.10).
Sarah Chewning (Springdale) secured a first-place finish in the diving competition with a score of 454.60. Courtney Atherton (Springdale Har-Ber) took second (361.05) and Kensey Berry (Pulaski Academy) placed third (343.75).
Pulaski Academy's Shelby Cox touched out Lake Hamilton's Lexis Rasnic in the 50 freestyle by .04 seconds for a first-place finishing time of 24.36. She also won the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.99.
Boys Results
Bentonville won the 200 medley (1:40.34) and freestyle (1:29.81) relays, while Conway finished first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:23.73).
Sophomore Pearson Gean (Bentonville) won the 50 (21.14) and 100 (46.97) freestyles.
Siloam Springs' Bryan Adair (354.85), Mason Rutherford (292.30) and Chris Adair (266.35) were the top three finishers in the diving competition.
Senior Michael Haefner (Bentonville) surpassed Tom Genz's 1983 state records in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke. Haefner finished with times of 1:52.97 and 57.02 respectively.
