NEW COMMIT: The University of Utah has received their second verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Futures qualifier Chloe Thompson out of Bentonville, Arkansas.

She will join Katelyn Buono of Sparks, Nevada, as a member of the Utes’ Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“I couldn’t be more excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Utah! I am extremely grateful for the support I’ve had over the years from my family, friends, and coaches. I couldn’t have gotten where I am today without them. I can’t wait to see what is in store for these next four years!! Go Utes!!”

Thompson does her club swimming with Northwest Arkansas Aquatics and most recently earned three best times at the NCSA Summer Championships where she finished 19th in the 200m free and 21st in the 400m free. She also recorded five top-15 finishes at Lenexa Sectionals this past summer and collected three gold medals at Arkansas Seniors back in March.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:51.41
  • 500 free – 4:54.18
  • 1000 free – 10:20.93
  • 1650 free – 17:13.52
  • 200 breast – 2:21.30
  • 200 IM – 2:06.29
  • 400 IM – 4:28.95

Also competing for Bentonville West High School, Thompson is already a six-time individual Arkansas 6A State Championships. She won the 200/500 free combo as a junior while taking picking up gold and silver, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

Thompson will add valuable depth to the Utes’ lineup next year as she would’ve ranked in the top-5 in all her best events on last year’s roster. Under head coach Joe Dykstra, Utah finished fifth at the 2021 PAC-12 Championships.
