Aiden Lister Helps Arkansas Dominate At Weekend Quad
Arkansas had no trouble knocking off Clemson, Vanderbilt and Houston in a weekend quad-meet. The Razorbacks beat Vanderbilt 225-101, Houston 221-122 and Clemson 233-19. Vanderbilt placed second at the meet.
The Razorbacks started the day with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Nina Drolc, Natalie Burnett, Maddie Monroe and Anna Mayfield posted a time of 1:33.68, over three seconds ahead of the second place team.
Arkansas’ Aiden Lister won the 1000-yard freestyle, the first individual event of the day. Lister posted a time of 10:13.09 to win by nearly six seconds.
After helping the Razorbacks to a win in the 200-yard medley relay, Mayfield continued to impress with a win in the 200-yard freestyle. She posted a time of 1:48.48 to win by nearly two seconds.
Burnett picked up an individual win in the 100-yard backstroke. She touched in 56.21, over a second ahead of Houston’s Eleanna Koutsouveli.
Arkansas’ Madison Strathman won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.26. Then, in the 200-yard butterfly, the Razorbacks took first second and third place. Chelsea Tatlow led the way with a time of 2:01.13.
Drolc led the Razorbacks in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.60. Arkansas took the top three spots in the event.
Arkansas’ win streak ended with diving. Houston’s Micaela Bouter won the one-meter event with a score of 307.30. Danielle Shedd of Houston took the 3-meter event with a score of 296.40.
Chloe Hannam got Arkansas back on track, winning the women’s 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.12.
Arkansas dominated in the medley relays. In the 400-yard event, Mayfield, Strathman, Burnett and Monroe won with a time of 3:45.04. In the 200-yard medley relay, Mayfield, Strathman and Burnett were joined by Drolc. Their team won in 1:44.08.
Mary Soderberg continued the Arkansas dominance, winning the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:26.62. Drolc picked up her second individual win in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 51.13. Mayfield then took the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.66.
The 100-yard butterfly was the first non-diving event that Arkansas did not win. Vanderbilt’s Breanna Sapienza took first place with a time of 55.26.
Lister won her second individual event in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a time of 4:58.57. Strathman then took the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:16.85.
The day ended with another Arkansas win. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Drolc, Monroe, Burnett and Mayfield placed first with a time of 3:26.53.
Vanderbilt is back in action against Missouri on Jan. 28. Arkansas next takes on Illinois on Jan. 30.
