Amy Balcerzak-Field Wins Army Veterinary Corps Scholarship

CHICAGO, Ill., June 7. AMY Balcerzak-Field, National B Team Member swimming for Team TYR, has been awarded the highly prestigious Army Veterinary Corps scholarship, which will grant her a full scholarship and stipend for the duration of her tenure at The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

This is one of the most competitive scholarship programs in the country, and the criteria for winning such an award are exceedingly high.

Amy is Vice-President of the Class of 2005, and completed her first year at Penn with a GPA of 4.0. Yesterday, Amy was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, and upon graduation, will go on active duty with the rank of Captain. After graduation, her duties will include veterinary work and other health care functions at a domestic military installation for a period of three years.

A four-time Academic All-American and 20-time All-American at Northwestern, Amy graduated with a GPA of 3.78 in Biological Sciences. She was Valedictorian at The Peddie School in 1996.

Amy is a former American Record Holder in the 50 meter breaststroke (SCM), and is currently ranked 10th in the world in the 100m breaststroke (LCM).
