Amanda Weir Takes 100 Free Prelim At USA Nationals

Amanda Weir held on to her top spot in the women’s 100-meter free after her 54.64-second performance in prelims at USA Nationals. The Olympic silver medalist splashed to a 26.21 first 50 split, the fastest amongst the field. She returned in 28.43, just enough to hold off second-place finisher Allison Schmitt. Schmitt posted a 54.81 by splitting 26.85/27.96.

The 50-meter free national champion Madison Kennedy missed hitting under the 55-second mark with a 55.14. Katie Drabot took fourth in 55.19, followed closely by Amanda Kendall (55.35) and Mallory Comerford (55.48). Felicia Lee (55.51) and Faith Johnson (55.54) filled out the rest of the championship final.

Swimming in the B final will be Kotuku Ngawati (55.64), Ali Deloof (55.71), Lisa Boyce (55.79), Caroline McTaggart (55.81), Stanzi Moseley (55.88), Veronica Burchill (55.89), Carly Mercer (55.93), and Megan Moroney (55.97).
