Alec Caswell Gives Verbal Commitment to Johns Hopkins
NEW COMMIT: Upper Arlington, Ohio native Alec Caswell has announced his verbal commitment to Johns Hopkins University as a member of the class of 2023.
Caswell does his club swimming with Upper Arlington Swim Club and concluded a successful long course season with four lifetime bests at Futures in Richmond. At the MAKO Senior Circuit in March, he won both the 1000 free (9:32.97) and mile (15:47.57).
Also competing for Upper Arlington High School, Caswell is a three-time finalist at the Ohio State Championships. As a junior, he placed ninth in the 500 free (4:36.94) and 11th in the 200 free (1:42.59) after placing seventh in the 500 (4:37.67) as a sophomore.
He told Swimming World:
“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career as a member of the Johns Hopkins class of 2023! Go Hop!”
His best times include:
- 200 free – 1:41.96
- 500 free – 4:34.45
- 1000 free – 9:32.97
- 1650 free – 15:47.57
Caswell will add valuable depth to the Blue Jays’ roster when he arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season. His best 1000 and mile time would’ve ranked him first on the team last season and he’ll have a year of overlap with Brandon Fabion. He would’ve placed in the mile at last season’s NCAA DIII Championships as well.
