Alabama Secures 2028 Verbal From Canadian Trials Finalist Elleigh Wise

NEW COMMIT: The University of Alabama has received a new verbal commitment for Fall 2028 from Canadian international Elleigh Wise of Calgary, Alberta. Wise excels in freestyle.

She will join Brenley Bonez, Paige Kowal and Claire Burns in Tuscaloosa as a member of the Crimson Tide’s Class of 2032.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I chose the University of Alabama because of the connection I felt with the coaches and the team. From the moment I visited, I felt welcomed and could really see myself being part of the Crimson Tide family. I loved the team atmosphere, the amazing facilities, and the opportunity to continue developing as a swimmer while competing in the SEC. I’m so excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to call Alabama home. Roll Tide!”

Wise trains year-round with Cascade Swim Club. She finished fifth in the 400m free, sixth in the 200m free and 10th in the 800m free at Junior Pan Pacs this past August, setting best times in all those events.

Last December, Wise placed sixth in the 100m free and 1500m free, ninth in the 800m free, 11th in the 200m free and 13th in the 50m free at the 2025 Ontario Junior International.

In LCM, her best times include:

  • 100m free – 57.87
  • 200m free – 2:01.25
  • 400m free – 4:14.77
  • 800m free – 8:54.39
  • 1500m free – 17:00.59

In SCY, her best times include:

  • 100 free – 50.69
  • 200 free – 1:46.35
  • 500 free – 4:45.45
  • 1000 free – 9:58.75
  • 1650 free – 16:40.57

At the 2024 Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials, Wise placed 10th in the 1500m free and 18th in the 400m free — at just 14 years old.

Alabama finished fourth at the 2026 Southeastern Conference Championships and 11th at the 2026 NCAA Championships.

Wise’s best times (converted to yards) would’ve scored in the C-final of the 200 free and 500 free, as well as placed 22nd in the mile, at last year’s conference meet.
