Alabama High School State Championships

AUBURN, Alabama, December 5. MOUNTAIN Brook and Bob Jones earned state titles at the Alabama High School State Championships. The Mountain Brook girls tallied 210 points for first followed by Auburn (185) and Hoover (170.5). On the boys' side, Bob Jones won their sixth consecutive state title with 293 points while Auburn took second (232) and McGill-Toolen Catholic placed third (213).

Girls Individual Results
Auburn's Jillian Braun won the diving competition with a score of 387.15. Sarah Dominick (McGill-Toolen Catholic) and Meghan Hughes (Grissom) followed with scores of 366.10 and 363.95 respectively.

Elizabeth Swiderski, Megan Molnar, Carly Bowles, and Lisa Briggs teamed up for a win in the 200 medley relay (1:50.92). Molnar also had individual wins in the 50 freestyle (23.66) and the 100 breaststroke. She clocked a state record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.31.

Mountain Brook, Hoover, and Auburn went head-to-head in the 200 freestyle relay. Samantha Stanley, Mallie Bromberg, Mary Carr, and Rainey White of Mountain Brook won (1:40.31) while Hoover and Auburn tied for second with a time of 1:40.35.

Kelly Berger (Tuscaloosa County) was a dual event winner in the 200 IM (2:10.25) and the 500 freestyle (4:59.59).

White won the 100 butterfly and the 100 freestyle (52.60). She set a state record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.91. The previous record (56.37) was set by Jenny VonJoyanne (Bob Jones) in 2007. She joined Anna Judd, Stanley, and Carr for a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:39.93).

Boys Individual Results
Woody Joye (Stanhope Elmore), who is a five-star recruit in the Swimming World College Recruit rankings powered by Take Your Marks, won the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke (50.63). He set a state record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.76. The previous record (48.86) was set by Mountain Brook's Taylor Hill in 2005.
Auburn's Luke Iannuzzi, Benjamin Hoerlein, Kody Coggin, and Stephen Parsons set a state record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:37.27. The previous record (1:38.46) was set by Bob Jones in 2006.

Tofey Leon (Ums-Wright) had individual wins in the 200 (1:39.50) and 100 (44.96) freestyles.

Three-star recruit Spencer Kerns (St. Paul's Episcopal) was a dual event winner in the 200 IM (1:52.84) and the 500 freestyle (4:37.64).

Scott von Jouanne (Bob Jones) won the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.24. He teamed up with Kent Fellows, Charlie Johnson, and George Wong for a state record in the 200 freestyle relay (1:26.55)
Top finishers in the diving competition include Murphy's Robert Raley (492.86), Huntsville's Clay Fleming (400.75), and Bob Jones' Andrew Laing (363.20).

Phil Deaton joined von Jouanne, Fellows, and Wong for a state record in the 400 freestyle relay (3:09.93).
