Addy Rau of Sandpipers of Nevada Selects Western Colorado University

NEW COMMIT: Western Colorado University has received a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Adelaide “Addy” Rau of Las Vegas, Nevada.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to finally announce my verbal commitment to Western Colorado University! Thank you to all of my coaches, family, and friends who have supported me in this decision and I can’t wait to spend the next four years swimming in the Rocky Mountains! Go Mountaineers!!”

A versatile swimmer, Rau does her club swimming with Sandpipers of Nevada and recorded four best times and had four top-18 finishes at the TYR Desert Committee Championships in February. She had a great showing at the LVSC Winter Classic in January and finaled in four events at the Nevada State Championships last November.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 26.20
  • 100 free – 57.95
  • 200 free – 2:04.63
  • 100 breast – 1:11.42
  • 200 breast – 2:35.22
  • 100 fly – 1:04.04
  • 200 IM – 2:20.24
  • 400 IM – 4:56.98

Also competing for Faith Lutheran High School, Rau placed fourth in the 100 breast and sixth in the 100 fly as a sophomore at the Nevada 4A Mountain Region Championships.

Rau will add valuable depth in a number of different events when she suits up for the Mountaineers as a member of the Class of 2025. Under head coach Erik Matheson, Western Colorado finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.
