ACC Runner-Up Etay Gurevich Transfers from Louisville to Arizona
The Arizona Wildcats picked up a huge mid-season transfer from Israel and the University of Louisville in Etay Gurevich, who swam at the 2018 NCAAs in the 200 and 400 IM, and the 200 fly.
Gurevich swam two years for the Cardinals where he was fourth in the 400 IM at the 2017 ACCs and second in 2018. Gurevich was fifth in the 200 IM at ACCs in 2018 and was ninth in the 200 fly.
Gurevich will have two years of eligibility left for Arizona as he joins a team ranked 13th in the latest CSCAA Division I poll. He has not swum in a college meet since the 2018 NCAA Championships in Minnesota, where he placed 18th in the 400 IM, 24th in the 200 IM and 31st in the 200 fly.
Gurevich’s best times (SCY)
- 500 Free: 4:20.08
- 200 IM: 1:43.87
- 400 IM: 3:41.30
- 200 Fly: 1:43.54
If Gurevich had swum those times this season, he would be 13th in the nation in the 200 IM, second in the 400 IM, and 23rd in the 200 fly. In the Pac-12, he would be fifth in the 200 IM, first in the 400 IM, and seventh in the 200 fly.
Gurevich would be the number one Arizona swimmer in each of his three NCAA events. Arizona has had success with guys in Gurevich’s events with Justin Wright winning the national title in the 200 fly this summer and Nick Thorne finishing second at NCAAs in the 400 IM in 2018. Both Wright and Thorne finished their senior seasons last year.

“He has not swam” is totally incorrect. And then you did it again a few sentences later.
