2021 SEC Championships Day 4 Heats: Pintar, Antoniou Tie for Top Seed in 100 Free

The 2021 SEC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship continued with Saturday’s Day 4 prelims.

The 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly are on the docket for the morning.

Women’s 200 Backstroke

Alabama junior Rhyan White continued her dominating performances in the meet. After winning two events on Friday, she took the top seed in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 1:49.83, an NCAA “A” cut.

Kentucky’s Sophie Sorenseon took the second seed (1:52.01), followed by teammate Caitlin Brooks (1:53.04).

Missouri sophomore Meredith Rees took the fourth spot (1:53.45).

Women’s 100 Freestyle

Tennessee senior Tjasa Pintar and Alabama junior Kalia Antoniou tied for the top spot in the 100 free, each finishing in 47.82.

Alabama’s Morgan Scott took the third seed in 47.85, just ahead of Georgia’s Maxine Parker (48.13).

Women’s 200 Breaststroke

Georgia Senior Danielle Della Torre took the top spot in the 200 breaststroke, touched the wall in 2:06.89.

It was a 1-2 finish for the Bulldogs as sophomore Zoie Hartman took the second seed in 2:07.64.

Kentucky’s Gillian Davey took the third seed in 2:07.93, ahead of Tennessee freshman Mona McSharry (2:08.09) and Florida’s Vanessa Pearl (2:08.61).

Georgia junior Dakota Luther took the top seed in the 200 butterfly, touching the wall in 1:53.25, about a half second ahead of the field.

Kentucky junior Izzy Gati took the second seed in 1:53.73, followed by Georgia senior Courtney Harnish (1:54.71), Florida freshman Amanda Ray (1:55.05) and Kentucky junior Riley Gaines (1:55.20).
