2019 Pac-12 Women’s Championships Day 1 Finals: Live Recap
The 2019 Women’s Pac-12 Championship meet begins tonight at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington, and will conclude on March 2.
Stanford, the reigning champions, go into tonight having won the past 29 dual meets and last two PAC 12 Championships. Though Stanford is predicted to come out with yet another victory, they’ll have to watch out for Berkley and Arizona who are vying to get their hands on the wall first.
Tonight started with the 200 medley relay to be quickly followed by the 800 free relay.

200 Medley Relay
Cal swimmers Izzy Ivey, Ema Rajic, Maddie Murphy,and Abbey Weitzeil snagged the gold with a time of 1:35.21.
“It was a pretty solid and fun relay. We still have a few kinks to work out, but we’re going to work on the details of the relay, particularly starts and turns, for an even faster race at NCAAs,” Weitzeil said.
In a close second were Stanford swimmers, Ella Eastin, Grace Zhao, Amalie Fackenthal and Taylor Ruck with a time of 1:35.51.
USC swimmers, Hannah Leach, Riley Scott, Louise Hansson and Marta Ciesla came in a mere .08 seconds later taking third place with a time of 1:35.59.

800 Free Relay
Cal dominates for the second time of the night in the 800 free relay with Ivey, Robin Neumann, Katie McLaughlin and Amy Bilquist going a 6:50.63. While Cal went into tonight believing that this wasn’t their strongest relay, the girls raced their hearts out and claimed not only the gold but the second ever best time for Cal’s 800 free relay.
While the race was tight from the get-go, Stanford swimmers Ruck, Eastin, Katie Drabot, and Brooke Forde manage to capture the silver with a time of 6:51.69.
Coming in third was USC swimmers Hansson, Laticia Transom, Tatum Wade, and Kirsten Vose with a time of 6:54.56.
