The final morning of the 2019 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin, Texas, will have the heats of the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay.

After one of the strongest sessions in recent memory, one that saw three NCAA records, two American records, a three-peat (Mallory Comerford) and two four-year title sweeps (Ella Eastin and Lilly King), the shift is back on the team race in the final day.

The 50 free champion Abbey Weitzeil, of Cal, appeared to injure her right elbow during Friday night’s final relay. She has her elbow wrapped and was back in the water, taking the fourth seed in the 100 free. Before and after the race, Weitzeil had her arm propped in a sling.

Cal leads defending champion Stanford by 28.5 points going into the final day, but the Cardinal have their strongest day on paper coming today.

It should add up to one of the most exciting final days in the past few years as the meet goes down to the wire between these two rivals.

Michigan looks locked in third place with Louisville, Tennessee, NC State battling for the fourth-place trophy and Texas, Minnesota, Virginia, Indiana, Auburn, Arizona, Texas A&M, Wisconsin and USC battling for top 10 spots.

Beata Nelson put herself in position to claim a third NCAA title this week as the Wisconsin junior took the top seed in the 200 back to lead the session.

After winning the 200 IM and 100 back, Nelson swam a prelim time of 1:48.74 to take the top seed in the 200 back.

Stanford freshman Taylor Ruck was close behind at 1:48.84, setting up what could be a tremendous showdown in the final.

Ruck was one of three Stanford swimmers to make the final as the Cardinal look to overtake Cal for the team title.

Freshman Lucie Nordmann took the fourth seed (1:50.70) and junior Erin Voss took the sixth spot (1:50.78).

Kentucky junior Asia Seidt took the third seed (1:49.70) and teammate Ali Galyer was fifth (1:50.74).

100 Free

The big question going into the morning was how Abbey Weitzeil would do. After appearing to injure her right elbow in last night’s relay, she had her elbow wrapped for the 100 free.

She coasted into the final with a fourth-seed time of 47.28.

Louisville senior Mallory Comerford took the top seed (46.57), followed by Arkansas freshman Anna Hopkin (46.61) and Michigan senior Siobhan Haughey (47.16).

Tennessee junior Erika Brown took the fifth seed in 47.33, followed by Cal senior Amy Bilquist (47.38), Michigan senior Catie DeLoof (47.47) and NC State junior Ky-lee Perry (47.51).

200 Fly

Stanford senior Ella Eastin also put herself in position for another change at a title, at least a showdown with USC junior Louise Hansson.

Eastin, who won the 400 IM last night, took the top seed in the 200 fly at 1:51.02 to break the pool record set by Katinka Hosszu in 2011 (1:51.03).

Hanson, who won the 100 fly last night in an NCAA record, took the second seeding 1:51.70, setting up what looks to be an impressive duel for the title.

Louisville junior Grace Oglesby (1:52.21) and Cal senior Katie McLaughlin (1:52.63) will look to crash the party. They took the third and fourth seeds, respectively.

Georgia freshman Olivia Carter took the fifth seed in 1:52.70, followed by USC senior Maddie Wright (1:52.90), Texas A&M sophomore Jing Quah (1:53.45) and Stanford junior Katie Drabot (1:53.64).
