The first session of the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships opened in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday and featured some early-meet fireworks.

Harvard’s Dean Farris led off the second heat of the 800 free relay with a blistering swim, setting the NCAA and American record in the event.

In the final heat, Texas surged to the NCAA title, breaking the NCAA record set last year by NC State.

It was an exciting start to the meet.

Swimming World’s Peter Bick has been on deck capturing some of the images and emotions of the meet. Splash through his gallery from Wednesday below.
