The start lists for the 2019 FINA World Championships Day 6 finals have been released with several strong races expected.
It starts with the women’s 100 free with a packed field — so packed that Ranomi Kromowidjojo and Siobhan Haughey didn’t make the top eight.
The final will have Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom in lane four, flanked by Australia’s Emma McKeon and Cate Campbell.

The rest of the field consists of USA’s Simone Manuel and Mallory Comerford, Canada’s Taylor Ruck, Femke Heemskerk of the Netherlands and Great Britain’s Freya Anderson. A lot of the world’s elite will miss out on medals in this race.
Lilly King was disqualified from the 200 free earlier in the meet, leaving the race likely between Russia’s Yuliya Efimova, Canada’s Sydney Pickrem and South Africa’s Tatjana Shoenmaker.
The men’s 200 back final will feature American’s Ryan Murphy and Jacob Pebley as well as Russia’s Evgeny Rylov.
The men’s 200 breast final will see Australia’s Matthew Wilson, who matched a world record, face USA’s Andrew Wilson and Russia’s Anton Chupkov in what could be a historic final.
The men’s 4×200 free relay will see Italy in lane four, flanked by Russia and the USA.
The men’s 100 fly will see the likes of Germany’s Marius Kusch, Brazil’s Vini Lanza, Hungary’s Kristof Milak and South Africa’s Chad le Clos in the first heat and top-seeded Caeleb Dressel in the second heat along with compatriot Jack Conger, France’s Mehdy Metella, Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh and Britain’s James Guy, among others.
Dressel will be the top seed in the 50 freestyle, flanked by Russia’s Vladimir Morozov and Japan’s Shinri Shioura. Britain’s Benjamin Proud leads the first heat that includes Brazil’s Bruno Fratus and Australia’s Cameron McEvoy.
The women’s 200 back semifinal will feature Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu, Australia’s Minna Atherton and Kaylee McKeown as well as Canada’s Taylor Ruck in her second event of the session. The second heat will see world junior record holder and top-seeded Regan Smith next to Canada’s Kylie Masse as well as USA’s Kathleen Baker.
The women’s 50 fly will see Sweden’s Louise Hansson go head-to-head with USA’s Kelsi Dahlia and Canada’s Penny Oleksiak in the first heat, with Sarah Sjostrom flanked by Ranomi Kromowidjojo and Egypt’s Farida Osman in the second heat — with world champion Maggie MacNeil in lane seven.
