Women’s 200 Breaststroke
2014 silver medalist Molly Renshaw led heat three, and all of this mornings swimmers with a 2:24.70. Her teammate from Great Britain, Chloe Tutton posted the second fastest prelims time with a 2:25.79.
Defending champion Rikke Moeller Pederson of Denmark turned in a 2:25.90, making her the third seed in tonight’s semifinal.

Men’s 100 Freestyle
France’s Clement Mignon posted the fastest time of the morning, stopping the clock in 48.40. The next two swimmers finished in close succession. Serbia’s Valimir Stjepanovic touched in 48.59 and Sebastiaan Verschuren of the Netherlands posted a 48.61.

Women’s 100 Butterfly
World record holder Sarah Sjostrom cruised to a 57.20, the fastest time of this morning, and still the ninth best in the world this year, though well off her own world leading 55.68.
Defending champion Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark posted a 57.86. While off her world’s 11th 57.32 from the Danish Open, this morning’s swim still makes her tonight’s second qualifier.
Defending bronze medalist Ilaria Bianchi of Italy won heat three with a 58.34 and returns to tonight’s semifinal seeded third.

Men’s 800 Freestyle
After a stunning 1500 final last night, Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy was back to take the top seed in the 800 freestyle this morning. The Italian clocked a 7:49.87. His 800 split last night was a 7:46.24, the second fastest time in the world this year. This morning’s swim was the world’s fourth best of the year.
Fellow Italian Gabriele Detti secured the second seed with his 7:51.40 this morning.
Ukraine’s Mykhaylo Romanchuk posted a 7:51.83 to grab third. Great Britain’s Timothy Shuttleworth dropped 27 seconds from his seed to destroy the first heat, and secure a fourth seeded spot in the final with a 7:52.33.

Women’s 800 Freestyle Relay
In prelims of the 800 freestyle relay the Spanish team of Patricia Castro Ortega, Fatima Gallardo Carapeto, Melanie Costa Schmid, and Africa Zamorano Sanz posted a 7:57.20.
Hungary’s Evelyn Verraszto, Boglarka Kapas, Ajna Kesely, and Zsuzsanna Jakabos were right on their heels in 7:57.94.
The Netherlands’ Andrea Kneppers, Esmee Vermeulen, Marrit Steenbergen, and Robina Neumann combined for a third seeded 7:59.52.
