200 Free Sectional Champion Ryan McNutt Lends 2022 Verbal to Penn State

NEW COMMIT: Painted Post, N.Y. native and Futures qualifier Ryan McNutt has handed Penn State their second verbal commitment for the fall of 2022.

He will join Justin Schneider of Murrieta, Calif. as a member of the Nittany Lions’ Class of 2026.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am beyond blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at Penn State University. I am so excited to be a part of this team!! #WEARE #COOKIES”

A talented sprinter, McNutt does his club swimming with Corning-Painted Post River Hawks and most recently won the 200 free at Christiansburg Sectionals where he earned four best times and posted two additional top-5 finishes. In 2019, he was the 100 free runner-up at the Eastern Zone Championships.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.92
  • 100 free – 45.63
  • 200 free – 1:40.30
  • 100 fly – 50.95

Currently a junior at Corning-Painted Post High School, McNutt is a three-time individual New York Federation Championship finalist. He placed seventh in the 100 free and 12th in the 50 free as a sophomore while taking 16th in the former during his rookie season.

He won the 100/200 free combo at the NYPHSAA Section IV Class A Championships in 2021 as well.
