Olympic Champion Sarah Sjostrom put up another fast time in the 100 fly at the 2019 Swedish Swimming Championships, just missing her season-best and adding to her remarkable consistency in the event ahead of the 2019 World Championships. That was her title title in two days at this meet.

Sjostrom won the 100 fly in 56.45, just .03 off her season-best of 56.42 from the 2019 FINA Champions Series in Indianapolisfrom May. She split 26.38/30.03 to put up her fifth time under 57 seconds this year. Emma McKeon is the only other woman in the world to break 57 seconds so far this year with her 56.85 from the 2019 Australian World Championship Trials.

With Sjostrom producing so consistent in this event it is hard to imagine anyone putting up a serious challenge for her fourth-straight World Championship title in the 100 fly. It would also be her fifth overall title in the event.

Congratulations to Sarah Sjostrom on earning ZUMO’s Performance of the Week!
