World Juniors Silver Medalist Annam Olasewere Pledges ’25 Verbal to Stanford

NEW COMMIT: Sprint freestyler and Olympic Trials qualifier Annam Olasewere of Westport, Connecticut, will head to the West Coast for her college career after verbally committing to Stanford University beginning in Fall 2025.

She competed for Team USA at the World Aquatics Junior Championships in September, earning silver in the 50m free after clocking the fastest time during prelims.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Stanford University! This wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of my family, friends, teammates, teachers, and, especially, my CPAC coaches, Aaron and Matt. A special shoutout to Coaches Greg and Katie, as well as the Stanford team, for believing in me every step of the way. LET’S GO TREES!”

Olasewere does her club swimming with Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club and placed 17th in the 50m free at Phillips 66 Nationals this past summer before winning that event as well as taking third in the 100m free at NCSA LCM Championships. She won the B-final of the 50m free at the Toyota U.S. Open a year ago, too.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.37 (21.71 relay split)
  • 100 free – 49.50 (48.50 relay split)
  • 200 free – 1:47.96

Currently a junior at Staples High School, Olasewere is the two-time defending CIAC Class LL Girls State Championship gold medalist in the 100 free. She also won the 50 free as a freshman and the 200 free as a sophomore.
