BERLIN, Germany, November 16. GERMANY's Paul Biedermann became the first person under 1:41 as he broke Ian Thorpe's world record of 1:41.10 in the men's 200 freestyle at the FINA World Cup stop held in Berlin.

Biedermann clocked a time of 1:40.83 to clear Thorpe's 2000 standard also set in Berlin. Tunisia's Ous Mellouli placed second in 1:42.88, while South Africa's Darian Townsend finished third in 1:43.19.
