World Champion Daiya Seto Signs With Energy Standard of ISL

Japanese World Champion Daiya Seto announced via Instagram that he was signing with the Energy Standard team of the International Swimming League. Seto is the first Asian man to sign with an ISL team as Hong Kong’s Siobhan Haughey was the only woman to be on a team.

The Energy Standard roster was one of the most stacked teams originally when the rosters were first announced but Danas Rapsys and Andrei Minakov elected to sit out the ISL to focus on other things. That was a big blow to the Energy Standard team but they were able to get a nice replacement in Seto.

Seto won both the 200 and 400 IM at the 2019 World Championships this summer, emerging as the face of Japanese swimming heading into the Tokyo Olympics next summer. He became the first non-American to win the 200 IM world title since 2001, ending the winning streak that extended the last eight World Championships. Seto also won his third 400 IM world title in the 400 IM and also won a silver in the 200 fly.

Energy Standard will be in the first ISL meet on October 5-6 in Indianapolis, Indiana and tickets can be purchased here.
