Winter Juniors Qualifier Casey Loughlin Chooses Penn State

NEW COMMIT: Winter Juniors qualifier Casey Loughlin of Wallingford, Calif. has verbally committed to Penn State and will join the Nittany Lions in the fall of 2020.

Loughlin swims year-round with Cheshire Y/Sea Dog Swim Club under head coach Sean Farrell. She most recently placed 10th in the 200m fly this past summer at YMCA LCM Nationals after earning silver in the 200m back at Connecticut LCM Seniors. Last winter, she recorded three best times at Connecticut SCY Seniors where her highest finish was a fourth-place showing in the 100 back. A current senior at Lyman Hall High School, Loughlin competed at the Connecticut State Championships during her freshman season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at Penn State University! I chose this school because of the amazing team and coaches, and undeniable school spirit! A huge thank you to everyone who helped me get here! I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing team for the next 4 years! WE ARE!”

Her best times include:

  • 500 free – 5:02.09
  • 1000 free – 10:13.06
  • 1650 free – 17:09.82
  • 100 back – 55.85
  • 200 back – 1:59.78
  • 100 fly – 56.76
  • 200 fly – 2:04.75

Loughlin has consistently made improvements each season and will be add even more depth to Penn State’s freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly groups next fall. She will also join Catherine StanfordAnna Redican, Abby HendersonMorgan RinnLizzie Danforth and Mary Brinker in State College as members of the class of 2024.
