William & Mary Secures Commitment from In-State Breaststroker Lexi Nussbaum
NEW COMMIT: The College of William & Mary has picked up a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from in-state breaststroker Lexi Nussbaum of Blacksburg, Va.
She will join fellow in-state standout Kathryn Burr as a member of the Tribe’s Class of 2025.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at William and Mary!! I chose William and Mary because of its outstanding swim program and academic opportunities, and I can’t wait for the next 4 years. Thanks to my coaches, family, and friends for all of their support! Go Tribe!”
Nussbaum, who does her club swimming with H2okie Aquatics, most recently earned four best times at the HOKI Winter Meet earlier this month. She raced three events at Virginia Seniors back in March and recorded a best time in the 100m breast at Virginia LCM Seniors in Summer 2019.
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 31.40
- 100 breast 1:07.08
- 200 breast – 2:28.21
Also competing for Blacksburg High School, Nussbaum has raced at the Virginia 4A State Championships the last three years. She placed 15th in the 100 breast as a junior while taking 16th in that event during her freshman season.
Under head coach Nate Kellogg, William & Mary finished second at the 2020 CAA Championships.
After originally announcing to cut the swimming and diving program after the 2020-21 season, William & Mary decided to reinstate the women’s team to preserve Title IX balance.
