William and Mary picked up a verbal commitment from Jasmine Harper. Harper will not have to travel far for college as she lives in Richmond, Virginia where she trains with Nova of Virginia Aquatics, Inc. She attends The Collegiate School.

Her best times are:

  • 50 Breast 30.12
  • 100 Breast 1:04.65
  • 200 Breast 2:21.11
  • 200 IM 2:09.43

Harper swam the full slate of breaststroke events at NCSA Junior Nationals in March. From 2015 to 2016 she took over a half second off her best 100 breaststroke time and three seconds from her 200 breaststroke.

The Tribe is the defending Colonial Athletic Association champions. Harper would be a 100 breaststroke B finalist with her best time. Annie Valls and Claire Williams were two of the Tribe’s four A finalists in the event last year. Both of them will still be on the roster in the 2017-2018 season. Harper would have slipped into the 200 breaststroke B final. Shannon Harrington will also be a senior training partner for Harper when she gets to Williamsburg next fall.

Harper said of her decision,

“I decided to commit to William and Mary because of their commitment to excellence, both in and out of the pool. Even as a recruit, I felt inspired by their work ethic and pursuit of knowledge. The campus is gorgeous, the team is diverse, and I know the coaches will inspire me to continue to lower my times so I can contribute to another conference championship! William and Mary is the perfect fit for me. Go Tribe!”
