Wheaton Has Strong Showing in Friday Prelims

Day two preliminaries of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin started with the 400-yard individual medley.

In the women’s event, Wheaton’s Katie Deysher set the pace. The senior posted a time of 4:29.86. Nicole Eklund of Wheaton was second.

In the men’s heats, Will McCauley of Wheaton was first in 4:04.68. Carthage’s Nick Sall touched second.

Wheaton’s Kirsty Nitz was first in the women’s 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.45. In the men’s prelim, Rose-Hulman’s Orion Martin touched first with a time of 48.92.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Illinois-Wesleyan’s Meg Stanley touched first with a time of 1:57.02. Carthage’s Chris Russo set the pace for the men, touching in 1:39.82.

Erin Bagley of Wheaton posted the morning’s top time in the 100-yard breaststroke. She touched in 1:04.91. In the men’s heat, Chris Riordan of Carthage touched first with a time of 57.47.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Ellie Hong of Rose-Hulman posted the fastest morning time. She touched in 56.82. Wheaton freshman Chris Szymczak was first for the men with a time of 49.41.

Finals will begin at 6 p.m. It will feature the individual event finals, and also the men’s and women’s 800-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relay.
