Ajax, Ontario’s Giselle Gursoy is headed to the United States for college next year. Gursoy swims for Ajax Swim Club.

She shared,

“I am thrilled to announced my verbal commitment to West Virginia University. Academically and athletically WVU is the best place for me. I cannot wait for what the future holds. Go mountaineers!”

Her best times are (SCM/SCY conversion):

  • 50 Free 26.88 SCM/ 24.11 SCY
  • 100 Free 57.70 SCM/ 51.61 SCY
  • 200 Free 2:03.27 SCM/ 1:50.20
  • 400/500 Free 4:22.95/4:57.70

In the Big 12 Conference, those times make Gursoy an instant point scorer. She would have landed in last year’s 200 freestyle A final, sitting at the same 1:50 mark as the Mountaineers’ Amelie Currat. She should be a strong leg of the team’s 800 freestyle relay as well. Last year the top 14 swimmers cracked five minutes in the 500 freestyle. With her converted best time, Gursoy would have been among them, at the top of the B final. West Virginia landed Emma Skelley and Georgia Baldus in the A final of the event last year. Gursoy would also have slipped into the B final of the 100 freestyle last year. She would have been the team’s second best swimmer, making her a valuable relay asset as well.
