Hali Flickinger won the first event of the 2017 Phillips 66 U.S. Nationals, the women’s 200 butterfly. Flickinger led the race from start to finish. Despite being the top seed coming into the meet, she felt no pressure and still hopes to go even faster in the future.

Dakota Luther qualified for her first Senior National team tonight after finishing second to Flickinger. Before today, Luther had never been under 2:10 in the 200 butterfly, and she finished the night in 2:08.71. For the 17 year old coached by Olympian Brendan Hansen, the reality of making her first World Championships team has not yet sunk in.
