Washington Women’s 2A State High School Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Washington, November 16. LOPSIDED victories defined the Washington Women's High School 2A State Championships.

Amelia Messegee lambasted the competition in each of her two individual events. She won the 200 freestyle (1:51.26) by more than 15 seconds and had a similar showing in the 100 freestyle (51.77), winning by more than five seconds.

Nakayla Chan of Fife completely outperformed her competitors in each of her individual events as well. She posted a 2:07.82 in the 200 IM and won by just less than 15 seconds and clocked a 5:04.34 500 freestyle, taking the event by 34 seconds.

Centralia captured two of the three relay events. The 200 freestyle relay comprised of Amelia Messegee, Alyson Messegee, Tina Davis and Corina Ernst touched first with a 1:40.98 time while the same four girls mixed up the order in the 400 freestyle relay to win in a 3:43.82 time.

Asha Srivastava of River Ridge took the state championship in the diving competition with a 272.00 score. Natalie Vwich of Bellingham took second (266.60) while the multitalented freshman Alyson Messegee claimed the third-place spot (250.30).

Sehome scored 104 points throughout the course of the meet and took home the team title. Centralia placed second with 89 points while Fife came in third with 64 points.
