Washington & Lee Leads Old Dominion Athletics Conference Championships Following Day Two

RADFORD, Virginia, February 17. THE Washington and Lee women's swimming team completed the second day of competition at the ODAC/Atlantic States Championships held at Radford University.

The Generals were paced by the 200 medley relay team, which won their race in a time of 1:53.38. Sophomore Lindsey Strachan (Midlothian, Va./Maggie L. Walker Governor's School) led off the race and was followed by sophomore Susan Mahoney (Richmond, Va./St. Catherines), junior Amy Roberson (Nacogdoches, Texas/Nacogdoches) and freshman Jenna Worsham (Cumming, Ga./Wesleyan School).

Sophomore Jessica Shaw (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) won the 400 IM with a time of 4:43.78 that narrowly missed breaking the school record (4:43.68). Mahoney placed second in the event (4:49.08), while sophomore Julianne Miata (Valhalla, N.Y./Westlake) finished third (4:51.37).

Among the other top finishes for W&L were Roberson, who finished third in the 100 butterfly (1:01.99), Worsham, who placed second in the 200 freestyle (2:01.89), freshman Sarah Simpson's (Charlotte, N.C./South Mecklenburg) third-place showing in the 200 freestyle (2:03.21) and Strachan's third-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:01.46).

Additionally, the Generals' 800 freestyle relay squad of Worsham, Strachan, Mahoney and Simpson finished second overall with a time of 8:12.02.
