The first event in Eindhoven started with a bang as China’s Wang Jianjiahe won the 400-meter freestyle in 3:54.63.

Her time shattered the world junior record set by Li Bingjie (3:59.14), set in 2017 by nearly five seconds.

It was also enough to overtake U.S. Olympian Leah Smith by nearly seven seconds. Smith finished second in 4:01.63.

Russia’s Anna Egorova was third in 4:04.65, followed by the Spanish trio of Catalina Corro (4:06.15), Mireia Belmonte (4:07.51) and Jimena Perez (4:08.34).
