BLACKSBURG – Incoming freshman Gershwin Greene of the Baylor School and the Baylor Swim Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee has been selected to represent his home country of the Bahamas at the 2017 World University Games in Tapei, Taiwan. The prestigious competition will be held from August 20-27.

Greene was picked to represent the Bahamas based on his performances in the 50m and 100m freestyle events at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in August 2016 and the Arena Pro Series stop in Atlanta earlier this month. In order to be eligible to compete in the World University Games an athlete must be currently registered at a university or within a year of college graduation.
Greene joins a stellar men’s recruiting class for the Hokies that features multiple top 100 prospects.

The class includes Alex Hines (Lenoir City, Tenn./ Tennessee Aquatics), Alex McMurry (Huntersville, N.C./SwimMAC), Connor Doyle (Yardley, Pa./ Eastern Express Swim Team), Lane Stone (Springfield, Va./ Nation’s Capital Swim Club) and Tommy Hallock (Herndon, Va./ Machine Aquatics). The Hokies look for this class to continue building on their tradition of excellence in the ACC and and on the national stage.
