Virginia Tech Sweeps ACC Men’s Weekly Awards

Four Atlantic Coast Conference swimmers and divers were recognized with weekly awards, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Two Hokies swept the men’s ACC weekly recognition as Virginia Tech diver Logan Stevens earned the honor of ACC Male Diver of the Week for winning the 1m with a score of 326.40 and taking second in the 3m (353.55). This is the senior’s first weekly award of the season.

Virginia Tech’s Brandon Fiala was named the ACC Male Swimmer of the Week, his first of the season. The junior snatched the weekly accolade after winning the 200 IM (1:49.94), 200 breast (2:01.72), and 100 breast (55.50), as well as being a member of three first-place relays for his team against Towson and Virginia.

Pitt diver Meme Sharp was recognized as the ACC Female Diver of the Week for her strong performances on the boards against Denison. Sharp won the 1m with a score of 327.08, shattering both the school and pool record to grab her first weekly award of her career. The sophmore also placed second in the 3m (327.90).

Virginia’s Ellen Thomas was named the ACC Female Swimmer of the Week after her team’s win against Towson and Virginia Tech. The junior won both the 50 free (23.40) and 100 free (50.27), and was a member of four first-place relays for the Cavaliers. This was Thomas’ first conference award of her career.
